Teaching Bio
Ace Jones-Taylor (they/them) is an award-winning dancer and instructor based in Austin, TX. Known for their innovative exploration within blues idioms and movement quality, Ace seems to live within the music.
Ace has been teaching dance professionally since 2012 and has taught at festivals around the world, including NYC, Denver, Chicago, LA, Pittsburgh, Quebec City, and Seoul, South Korea. As a full-time dance teacher, Ace is adept at lesson planning, music selection, and adapting material on the fly to create the best possible learning experience for their students. Their teaching emphasizes collaborative learning, developing personal expression within the idiom, and a follow-focused pedagogy. An invaluable resource to students and organizers alike, Ace is accessible and professional both inside and outside of the classroom. While Ace has primarily focused on teaching in recent years, they have placed 1st in competitions at Nocturne Blues, North Star Blues, Steel City Blues, Snowbound Blues, Mile High Blues, Blues Muse, European Blues Invasion, and BluesSHOUT. Ace's hobbies outside of dance include board games, cooking, and spending time with their oh-so-fluffy cat and dog (Frida and Miri). Find out more and watch Ace dance at www.acedances.com. DeeJay BioBest compliment you can give Ace when they're deejaying? High five them as you excitedly make your way onto the dance floor, then never leave. Ace’s primary goal as a deejay is to keep the dance floor full and the dancers inspired and energized throughout the night - whether it’s an exchange, a house party, or a wedding.
Ace has spun across Texas as well as in California, Colorado, Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota. While Ace is all about bringing the party, they're also an enabler of those late-night cuddle dances most of us love so much. They've got a serious thing for modern and local blues artists, rhythms that take you along for the ride, and any music that just won’t let you sit down. Find out more at www.acedances.com. |
